For already the second time a beautiful rooftop apartment rises on one of the streets of Sydney, Australia. Curiously remodeling the appearance of the building it stands on, the Bondi Penthouse overlooks Bondi Bay and beach and borrows its name. Spread over 180 square meters, this creation of MPR Design Group displays a highly modern design. Adorning the rooftop of an Art Deco building, the lightweight metal clad structure benefits from plenty of natural light coming from a mixture of skylights and windows. An immaculate set of interiors and exterior spaces compose social and private rooms, all free flowing and strongly connected to the surroundings.

* MPR Design Group have designed the Portland Street Duplex in Sydney, Australia. The development consists of two three storey dwellings in Dover Heights situated on a relatively steep site with views facing west towards the city and harbour. Each house is more or less a mirror image of the other encompassing a raised entry at first floor with the main living areas, bedrooms on ground floor with garage access and a lower ground floor entertainment area overlooking a rear garden and pool. Large balconies and canopies for solar control ensure that despite their orientation the houses are able to maximise their panoramic vistas. Combined with a minimal palette of materials, articulated and modulated façades, the two houses contribute a subtle and refined addition to the streetscape.

Sommeranbruch an Down Under’s Surfspot No 1 – Bondi Beach.

* On summer’s eve, 17 Strongbow surfers descended on Bondi Beach in custom made glow-in-the-dark surfboards and wetsuits as an official “welcome to summer” for Strongbow. Hundreds of visitors lined the beach and the Bondi Icebergs balcony to catch a glimpse of the spectacle.
